Een uniek concert op zondagmiddag 14 februari in de knusse theaterzaal van het Almelose Hof 88. Vanaf 15.00 uur is zanger en toetsenist Daniël von Piekartz (25) als solist te bewonderen. Een toegangskaartje kost 12 euro. Reserveren kan door te bellen met 06 – 5184 5581. Kaarten zijn op de dag zelf ook verkrijgbaar bij de kassa van Theater Hof 88 aan de Elisabethhof 4.

Daniël von Piekartz is een van de grootste en meest veelzijdige muzikale talenten van ons land. Gezegend met een uitzonderlijke stem, zingt de geboren Oldenzaler jazzy crooners met hetzelfde gemak als waarmee hij uptempo nummers van Prince ten gehore brengt. Jazz, soul, funk; Von Piekartz combineert het ogenschijnlijk met speels gemak. Hij stond al op North Sea Jazz en toerde met Benjamin Herman (New Cool Collective) door binnen- en buitenland. Momenteel werkt hij in Berlijn aan zijn debuut EP.

Terug op het oude nest

Von Piekartz is ook in het Almelose geen onbekende. Als beginnende pianist maakte hij enkele jaren geleden deel uit van Big Band Almelo, het orkest dat in 2010 op het Nationaal Big Band Concours in Hoofddorp, met Von Piekartz in de gelederen, de tweede plaats behaalde in de eerste klasse. Het Oldenzaalse muziektalent viel toen al op door de combinatie van zijn virtuoze pianospel en zijn zoetgevooisde zanggeluid. In Hoofddorp viel Von Piekartz niet alleen een staande ovatie ten deel, maar ging hij ook aan de haal met de Bonusprijs voor Opvallende Musici.

Achttien enthousiaste Twentse muzikanten vormen samen Big Band Almelo. De band stond ruim twintig jaar onder de bezielende leiding van dirigent-arrangeur Frank van Nus, maar kent sinds enkele maanden met Rini Swinkels een nieuwe bandleider. Von Piekartz werd de afgelopen jaren tijdens de zondagmiddagconcerten van Big Band Almelo in Hof 88 al voorgegaan door jazzgrootheden als Greetje Kauffeld, Adrienne West, Frits Landesbergen en Hans Dekker.
